The Beaulieu Boulodrom

Architecture

Location: Le Mans, France

Year: 2017

Area: 1000 sq. m.

Client: Competiton

The building is reminiscent of the general idea of the Louvre Lens by Sanaa. The principle here is the same – glass elevations that create the feel of lightness of building that is not in conflict with the landscape. With reflections during the day the building becomes almost invisible and at night is a beacon that illuminates the area.

The main difference of course between the two buildings is their nature – one being a museum and the other sports facilityt. For this reason, I chose to make a building without any column inside, not only to avoid obstacles but also so that the place looks to be more like an outdoor space. The columns are hidden by the elevation to avoid the feel of an imposing structure.
